Orientation

The bright red, wingless, manticore trotted up to the front of the room and stood behind the podium. Being built for your average humanoid, it was at the perfect height for her head while she stood on all fours. "Welcome to your orientation for your time here at Schutzhafen! I'll give you a little bit of background on what to expect, and then I'll take questions."
She paused to let people get themselves ready for listening and then launched into a speech she'd given many times over the decades and planned to give many, many more, "Originally a school Under-The-Hill meant mostly for the elves of this area after the second world war it was decided that our side of the world needed better training and mingling of powers and people in order to help keep that kind of disaster from happening again - or at least to keep it from coming as close as it did to wiping out entire populations of people both normal and para.
"We have, as you all well know, a wide variety of majors from the mundane to the magical with teachers from all walks of life ready and able to help you reach your full potential! Whatever your powers or species we'll help make sure that you're ready to live the rest of your life with as much support as you need and as much education as you want.
"Don't be afraid to avail yourself of your advisor's help when thinking about the path your schooling should take, if you don't have one yet my door is always open and I'll help you find someone! Our councilor, Nick Fayre, is here to help you with anything from homesickness to trauma recovery - he's an empath as well as a psychologist so he's able to handle whatever you need handled.
"Please refer to your orientation handbooks for a brief rundown of the other professionals here. After orientation your RAs and other volunteers will be available to take you on a tour of the campus if you haven't already had one, or just want a refresher."
She spoke for about thirty minutes on the layout of the campus and more details about the offerings that the university had before smiling brightly and asking,
"Any questions?"
